OUR MISSION
The face of MOMElife™ is Laura Joines, AIA, an architect committed to a sustainable and simple world. MOMElife™ [www.momelife.com] and M:OME architecture [www.mome.org] are avenues to bring responsible and beautiful design into the world.
M:OME [architecture and product] was born out of the need to create. M:OME was born out of the acceptance that good design must happen at every level from detail to building, and M:OME was born out of the belief that all good design must strive for greater eco-literacy. We believe that sustainability is a minimum requirement; a sieve through which all works must pass to be considered great design. We believe that a fourth ideal, Sustainability, be added to the Vitruvian triad of Firmness, Commodity and Delight.
Our mission is simple: create modern design that re-thinks its purpose.
OUR HISTORY
MOME:life [the product division of M:OME architecture] began one evening in as Laura attempted to hang a picture on her plaster wall. It needed to move to the right. Then it needed to go down a bit. Then she decided to put another one next to it. But it had to move up. So you can see how a few hours and quite a few large holes later she quit in frustration. Which is actually a good thing, because she then made the ‘SHOW OFF’, the original picture rail. The system then kept expanding to accommodate simple and practical ways to display and store things in every room.
